KOMA, the first comic festival in Brno, presents contemporary comic production. Comic initiatives in Brno, KOMIXXX – Šaufenstr Gallery – Aargh! Magazine, join together to present different forms of comic and contemporary art as two interconnected worlds. KOMA Festival brings exhibitions, live painting, art installations, film sceenings, workshops, comicbook market, concerts, theatre, storytelling and many more.

We move this year! The notional gates to the world of comics will open on 8–11 October, 2020 in Káznice, Cejl, Brno.

The main topic of this year is TABU.

Genius loci of the Káznice (Prison) in Brno directly encourages to open hidden but omnipresented topics giving evidence about the temper of our society. Where is the line between approved, official, accepted and on the contrary, unwanted, intentionally concealed and eliminated?

Behind the courtain between spirituality and social convention, TABU draws attention to forbidden and because of humiliation and rejection makes us fearful. Let´s take TABU be part of a social dialogue.
